Poolewe provides all the correct combination for a great holiday visit - beautiful scenery, mountains including several nearby munros, Loch Maree and the Beinn Eighe nature reserve. Along the coast from Poolewe on Loch Ewe are small hamlets and crofting areas, harbours and fishing boats. The beach at Firemore near Cove is great for kids, dogs and "adults" of all ages, and is easily accessible from the main road. Also nearby is Gruinard Bay with its lovely sandy beach that stretches for what seems miles when the tide is out. Safe and reasonably warm to swim in during the summer.
Where is Camusnagaul?
Camusnagaul is close to Dundonnell, Little Loch Broom. We are near Ullapool and Inverness and this makes for an ideal holiday centre when visiting Scotland and the Scottish Highlands.

When you visit Scotland and the Scottish Highlands you can have a relaxing or active holiday, or a combination of both. There is daily adventure trips out from Ullapool on fast (and also slow) tourist boats around the Summer Isles looking for wildlife including dolphins and the occasional whale.
Creag Ard Charters boat is based at Camusnagaul, Dundonnell and can be charted out (including a skipper) for scuba diving and sea fishing trips around the Summer Isles and wrecks including the Jambo and Fairweather V.

Scotland has many wonderful beaches and within 10 minutes of the holiday accommodation at Camusnagaul, Dundonnell you can visit Gruinard Bay and a little further the sandy beaches at Mellon Udrigle.
At Camusnagaul we have two well appointed Scottish Holiday cottages. When you are visiting Scotland on holiday the accommodation around Dundonnell make a great choice for visiting and touring around the Scottish Highlands to such places as Ullapool, Lochinver, Poolewe and Gairloch.
Each holiday cottage has central heating, a full-sized kitchen and 2 bedrooms. Disabled access is available through a ramp. There is uninterrupted views over Little Loch Broom towards the mountains surrounding the sea loch.

Sandy Beach at Mellon Udrigle is about 30 minutes drive from Dundonnell.
This is a view looking towards An Teallach, one of the most famous mountain ranges in Scotland. If you want to bag a Munro - come stay at Camusnagaul as there is over 10 Munros nearby.
At Poolewe you will find very friendly local people along with a number of tourist facilities including a small swimming pool. There is a well resources camp site that has been around for many years, and if you prefer to camp in the wilds you can, for just 10 pounds a week at the nearby Firemore beach along from Cove - no toilets or running water, what you do get is wide open space and camping on grassy areas next to the beach.

From personal experience we found eating at the Bridge Cottage Cafe absolutely great (we ate there 3 times during a 1 week holiday at Camusnagaul in the autumn), run by Michael & Connie Inman they provide the ideal place to stop for lunch or coffee and home baking while touring around the Loch Ewe and Loch Maree area.
The food is very reasonably priced and delicious Scottish fare. You can't miss the cafe as it is opposite public park and shop next to the bridge as you enter Poolewe. Parking is available opposite the cafe and you will see a wooden bear sitting outside. The cafe is open most weekends during the winter. Their phone number is (01445) 781 335.
Another place to visit is the Garden Cottage Nursery at Tournaig near Poolewe. They have a wide range of plants for sale, a nice feature is the garden that is incorporated into the nursery.
River Ewe is famous for it's salmon fishing and beauty. It flows from Loch Maree and this must be one of the most beautiful areas in the Scottish Highlands. The original Scots Pines from the Caledonian forest are still seen on the islands in the loch and the area was once covered in forest and inhabited by wolves and bears. These are now long gone, however you will still see lots of wildlife including deer and eagles throughout this area.

Visit Scotland & discover the Scottish Highlands
Have you ever been to Poolewe? If not then I can tell you that Poolewe is a small community in the west coast of Scotland and it is famous for it's wonderful scenery including mountains, the River Ewe and the nearby Loch Maree. Poolewe is situated at the top of the sea loch, Loch Ewe and along this rocky coast you will find little hamlets and sandy beaches.
Near to Poolewe is the nature reserve of Beinn Eighe and Loch Maree.
